MxT Bonita is perhaps one of the most fascinating typeface developments, not only because of its complexity and slow, gradual evolution, but also because it embodies many of the foundations and principles that underpin my personal design—not just in terms of typography, but in general.

It was initially created to represent values of Mexican culture that draw on architectural influences, ancestral textiles, and folk costumes, since for several years I worked as a Mexican folk ballet dancer, and my experience with—and fascination for—indigenous embroidery, as an indigenous person myself, eventually led to the development of a set of initial letters that found their way into various applications.
