Ephemera was inspired by Jorge Drexler’s song “Tres mil millones de latidos,” which explores the brevity of life and the idea of being merely passing through the world. This gave rise to the name Ephemera, derived from the Greek term *ephemeros*, which refers to something that lasts only a short time.
Visually, the typeface draws inspiration from pichação, an urban graphic art form that originated in São Paulo during the 1980s. Its design employs straight lines and gentle angles, moving away from the traditional aesthetic of New York graffiti and leaning toward forms associated with architecture. The typeface family features a uniform stroke, with defined proportions and ascending and descending curves that end in pointed terminals.
