Hipster Script is part of a line of typographic research that seeks to bridge the gap between the craftsmanship of hand lettering and the precision of the vector environment. The project incorporates the gestural quality of brush lettering to emulate a “continuous painting,” challenging the segmented nature of digital typography. This approach moves away from the formal rigor of Copperplate styles to embrace a calculated informality, where the computer acts as a mediator of human spontaneity.
