An authentic Mexican Baroque design, inspired by Dutch-English Baroque typefaces and the designs of J. Michael Fleishmann.
The concept behind the typeface originated in the search for an identity for a book collection and in an attempt to revive the tradition of Baroque typefaces (17th and 18th centuries) inspired by the typefaces cut by Johann M. Fleischmann, P. S. Fournier, and Nicholas Kis.
The result is a contemporary reinterpretation—with a “touch” of Mexican flair—of the structures and formal features of the old Baroque typefaces in a versatile style; with a generous “x-height” and ascenders that highlight the font’s historical character—details found in the ornamentation of Baroque-style churches, chapels, and cathedrals in Mexico.
